The Oregon Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Jeffrey Specht, is a regional orchestra that performs throughout the Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA areas. Each season the orchestra performs an average of six concerts including various community outreach activities. The orchestra performs “chamber-sized” orchestra repertoire from all orchestral periods including new works, and each season OPACO hosts the John “Jack” Kenneth Cole Annual Composition Prize for Young Composers. The winner of the prize receives a scholarship and a premier performance of his or her work on the Season Finale concert.

In 2006, OPACO traveled by invitation to Portland’s sister city of Sapporo, Japan, for a concert commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Sapporo Philharmonic. OPACO is maintained by generous donations from organizations and individuals, as well as with musician sponsorships.
